FAQ
Common questions
Ten things owners and trades ask before working with Ridgeway Construction & Crane Ltd. If yours isn’t here, the contact page gets a real reply.
01.Where does Chris Ridgeway work?
Ridgeway Construction & Crane Ltd. is based in Burnaby and works across Greater Vancouver — Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, and Richmond. We don’t take work outside the Lower Mainland. See Areas for the city-by-city detail.
02.What kinds of crane work do you do?
Tower crane operation on residential and mixed-use projects, mobile crane work for pours and equipment placement, and lift planning for both. Commercial sites are the bulk of the crane work. See Crane operation.
03.What kinds of homes do you build?
Custom single-family homes and laneway homes. Small project volume by design — one careful build at a time. See Home building and Laneway homes.
04.Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Licensed under the BC Homeowner Protection Act, registered with BC Housing, $5M general liability, WorkSafeBC in good standing, and new home warranty on every new build.
05.What certifications does Chris hold?
Mobile Crane Operator certification through BC Crane Safety, WorkSafeBC Fall Protection, Standard First Aid + CPR Level C, and BC Builders Licence (HPO).
06.How long has Ridgeway Construction & Crane Ltd. been in business?
The company was founded in 2015. Chris has been working on Greater Vancouver jobsites for eighteen years total, twelve of those running cranes.
07.How do I get a quote?
Through the contact page. A short paragraph about the project — site location, rough scope, your timeline — gets a real reply faster than a phone call.
08.Do you take small renovations?
Selectively. We focus on substantial work — new builds, major renos, laneway homes. Cosmetic renos and small projects aren’t usually a good fit for our scale.
09.How long does a custom home build take?
Depends on size, site, and finish level — but a typical custom single-family home in Burnaby or Vancouver runs ten to fourteen months from permit issuance to occupancy. Laneway homes run six to ten months from permit.
10.Do you build outside Greater Vancouver?
No. Surrey, Langley, the Fraser Valley, the Sea-to-Sky corridor — none of it. The scheduling logic for our subs and crane crews doesn’t survive long commutes, and we’d rather be honest about that than overpromise.
